Pancake Exhibition
‘Pancake’ (2024) is a non-profit organisation that works with selected artists whose art reflects a blend of tradition and modernity influenced by Asian folk art, anime/manga, pop culture, vibrant colours and playfulness. The concept was originally inspired by the ‘superflat’ movement (coined and popularised by Takashi Murakami). Similarly, we want to challenge the boundaries around art by blurring the distinction between high and low culture in order to be accessible to everyone. Through participation in curated events and exhibitions, our intention is to change how this style of art can often be overlooked and misunderstood in Australia.

My goodness! Isn’t the world such a fun place to be? Let’s take a step out of reality and enjoy the vibrancy the world has to offer, bring out our inner child and play! Mellow Art presented a playful market over an autumn weekend in April in hopes of bringing pure simplicity. We wanted to reflect on the innocent fun we had as children.

On the 26th and 27th of January 2024, Mellow Art transformed Melbourne's most-loved Korean cafe, INI STUDIO, into a little art space! The beautiful minimalist design of the cafe made the perfect backdrop to our Summer Nights event.
On the ground floor, three journaling sessions ran each night with the best company and sweet delights! Everyone journaled together in a cosy space and shared neat tips, tricks and conversations with one another. It was delightful to see a sweet journaling community come together! At the end of each session, our attendees wrote a letter to their future self which we will be sending out early 2025! The journal sessions were accompanied by our dear friend Veronica from With Love Studio who created a paper goods package for all attendees!
On the first floor upstairs, we ran our first mini pop-up exhibition space! Our dearest artists displayed their newest releases and loved goods for purchase and exhibition. Give a round of applause to alittleali_, jelly.atelier, juhwa.a, lerennis, myiicreative, nowarui, quirkimi, suxinwong.art, vincent_ultramarine, vivlikestea, @withlove__studio and weitingcccc! Additionally, Kimi from Quirkimi, delivered a series of live portraits that were so incredibly sentimental and popular on the night!

MUJI x Mellow
It’s time to refresh your mind for the new year and restock your MUJI stationery essentials! MUJI is excited to invite the founders of the Mellow Art Market to host eight comforting journaling sessions to celebrate the new year while exploring our range of popular MUJI stationery items.
The FREE 90 minute journaling workshops will take place in the middle of the MUJI Chadstone store on January 6 and 7. Each workshop will only have 15 spots, and each attendee will receive:
A free MUJI stationery pack worth $30 that includes a 2024 diary, polypropylene pen case and an array of MUJI stationery to keep.
Free MUJI sticker sheets designed by @alittleidiot_ and @suxinwong.art.
The workshop will begin with an introduction to MUJI’s stationery range. Afterwards, the Mellow Art team will host a number of different creative activities and share tips on decorating your journals and pen case.

RSVPs via our website are essential. For those that missed out on RSVPing, there is some extra space near the workshops for you to come and still take part in your own time. Communal MUJI stationery will be provided, and MUJI planners and journals will be available to be purchased in-store.

Mellow Art Market brought a lovely event, Lovely Spring in Melbourne 💐 , in September 2023. This event marked our 1-year anniversary!
This was our first time hosting at the Crown Conference Centre, to cater to a larger crowd and a brilliant line-up of art makers. We were blown away with the support and how sweet our Melbourne crowd is each time absolutely warms our hearts!
Our event included:
80+ artists and their beautiful artworks – the largest line-up yet ranging from locals, interstate to international!
Free photo-booth strips designed by our artists as a memorable keepsake of the event.
A stamp rally to collect our limited-edition Mellow Spring-themed goodies.
A deco-den table ran by the lovely Janne from Loveliness Studios!
